Access to the Tour de France passage
On Thursday 14 July, the 12th stage of the Tour de France 2016 will travel the 185km from Montpellier to Mont Ventoux.
In order for you to easily attend this major sport event, you can find information on traffic, parking areas and routes put in place.
Find out below, before you leave, and find the best accommodation to see the excitement of the Tour de France at close quarters!
The race will follow the D938 to Cavaillon, then the D2 from Les Taillades heading towards Gordes. After that the cyclists will be on the D15 / D177 and they will pass through Venasque, Mazan, Crillon-le-Brave and Bedoin before hitting the climb up Mont Ventoux via Sainte-Colombe and the Chalet Reynard.
Around Mont Ventoux
The three access roads to the summit of Mont Ventoux will be closed to traffic from 13 July at 1pm until Thursday evening: :
- RD164 in Sault: closed from 13 July between Sault, the place called Le Ventouret and the summit, apart from access to La Frache. On 14 July access will be allowed for cyclists and hikers. parking area in the village is planned.
- RD974 in Bedoin: closed from 13 July between Bedoin, Sainte-Colombe and the summit. On 14 July the village streets will be closed from 7am onwards. Special car parks on the outskirts of the village will be accessible in the morning until 1:30pm at the latest.
- RD974 in Malaucène:closed from 13 July between Mont Serein (chalet Liautard) and the summit. On 14 July Mont Serein will be accessible before midday (subject to parking availability) so the summit can be reachead via signposted hiking paths.
On the Cavaillon-Robion section
The motorway and two bridge interchanges (Cavaillon bridge towards the city centre and the Luberon Bridge) will be closed on 14 July from midday until 4pm.
In Cavaillon access to the ring road and the city centre will also be closed on 14 July from midday until 4pm.
Parking areas will be set up along the route of the race.
On the Robion-Gordes section
The RD900 in the hamlet of Coustellet will be closed between the roundabout with the RD15 to the west and the village of Beaumettes to the east on 14 July from 12:30pm to 4:30pm.
In the hamlets of Coustellet and Les Imberts you are advised to park before midday
On the RD15 at Gordes , the village will remain open depending on the amount of parking available.
On the Gordes-Mazan section
This section will be inaccessible on 14 July from 1pm until 5pm.
Access to Sénanque via the RD177 will be closed on 14 July in the early morning from the RD15 as far as the Col des Trois Termes.
There will be no access to the section above Sénanque Abbey not even for cyclists and pedestrians.
All access to the villages of Murs and Malemort-du-Comtat from the west will be closed
In Mazan, parking areas will be provided to the west of the race.
Apart from the sections above, traffic will be interrupted at the very least 1 hour before the passage of the caravan.

Our advice for travelling
Before setting off listen to France Bleu Vaucluse (100.4) which will have regular traffic news (in french). Follow the diversions and on the motorway tune in to Radio Vinci Autoroute (107.7)
