AC Ventoux wines
Cultivated for over two thousand years, the vines have been shaped by generations of wine growers who have drawn the best from the fertile land of Mont-Ventoux. Originating from the great abbeys of the Middle Ages and the Avignon papacy, Ventoux wines have been served at the table of kings, such as Louis-Philippe who,in the 19th century, adopted the Grenache Mazan wine in his court.
The Ventoux AC was created in 1973 and the wine-growing area now covers a total of 7450ha with a production of more than 258,751 hl over 6200ha in 2012: 61% red wine 35% rosé and 4% white wine.
They are divided into 114 private estates, 15 co-operative cellars, and 5 wine merchants.
